Changes in this release:

New Features:

· Added support for two new spectrometers that are as yet unreleased

· Moved the Update Center to a new server that should be better able to handle the network traffic. Note: SpectraSuite may cache the old server settings and refuse to check the new update site for changes. If this occurs, the user can correct this problem by removing their cached user settings. The simplest way to do this is as follows. First, apply this update. Next, find the “userdir” (in the menu, go to “Help”, then “About” and click the “Details” tab, then look for a line that shows which directory is the “userdir”). Next, shut down SpectraSuite and then move or delete the “userdir” directory. Finally, restart SpectraSuite. SpectraSuite should then look for updates from the correct server. This change was necessary so that the server could be relocated as needed to obtain more network bandwidth.

Bugs Fixed:

Fixed bug that prevented setting the laser wavelength (for computing Raman Shifts) while in Absolute Irradiance mode
Spliced-Spectra view would allow users to switch processing modes and stitch together spectra with incompatible Y-axis units
Connecting to a multi-channel Jaz system would take a very long time to complete
Y-axis on preview graphs would not correctly show logarithmic values when the minimum Y-axis value was less than zero
Exception when clicking on a preview graph
Maya 2000 and Maya Pro 2000 did not work under Linux
Exception when canceling out of “Show Overlay” dialog from a processed spectrum file icon
Strip chart would not save to file at specified time intervals
Laser wavelength editor dialog had an extra character in the title
Exception when ADC1000-USB and NIR spectrometer data are spliced
Update Center tries to use FTP when HTTP updates are specified, which prevents those behind firewalls (that block FTP) from obtaining updates. Note that the new update center configuration will use HTTP, but there may be other technical problems keeping files from being provided. This issue should be resolved prior to the next release.
Spliced spectrum made did not update correctly when multiple channels of an ADC1000-USB were spliced together
Manual was out of date. The current manual is still somewhat old, but should be updated further in the next release.
Strobe/Gate delay toolbar did not appear to work
Units/input values for the Strobe/Gate delay were invalid (was milliseconds, is now microseconds)
The graph produced via the Fluorescence Measurement wizard would be in scope mode instead of relative irradiance mode

New Features:

Added the ability to control a USB-ISS-UV/VIS with the USB2000+ (compatible firmware is required for the USB2000+ for it to work with the USB-ISS-UV/VIS).
Added a new feature in SpectraSuite to allow users to put the NIR-256 and the NIR512 into High Gain Mode. Additionally, users can store a default enable/disable value for the High Gain Mode in the EERPOM of the NIRs, and SpectraSuite will respect this default enable/disable accordingly.
To utilize this mode, right-click on the NIR spectrometer in the Data Sources window, choose “Features” and then click on the ”High Gain Mode” tab.

Fixed bug that caused the graph cursor bar to not move with the wavelength spinner when the acquisition was paused.
Fixed bug that caused the Centice MMS-Raman spectrometer’s features to not show up correctly under “Spectrometer Features”.
Fixed bug that caused the “Save Spectra Collection” dialog box to not resize properly and also caused the buttons to show up too small on Mac OS X.
Fixed bug that caused the “Percentage” text boxes on the PARSpec Module view to show incorrect values.
Fixed bug that caused users of the USB650 and USB325 to always be presented with an “Invalid Spectrum” error when trying to load a dark or reference sample from a file in one of the wizards (Absorbance Wizard, etc).

Added some file-checking to make sure that users aren’t trying to open the text file that is saved by default when performing a High Speed Acquisition. Before, SpectraSuite would attempt to load this file, despite it being in the wrong format. Now, if it is detected that the user is trying to load this file, the user is presented with an error message dialog box instead, informing him/her that he/she needs to save a High Speed Acquisition via the “Save Spectra Collection…” action first.
The High Speed Acquisition capability is invoked by right-clicking on a spectrometer and choosing “High Speed Acquisition”.
To open a saved set of spectra, click on the menu item: File.Open Load Spectra Collection

Bugs Fixed:

Fixed bug that caused Auto-Toggle Strobe/Lamp enable feature to not respect the state of the Strobe/Lamp Enable. Now there are 3 possibilities:

Strobe enable on, auto toggle on: Lamp toggles on for each scan and off afterwards
Strobe enable on, auto toggle off: Lamp comes on and stays on
Strobe enable off, auto toggle on or off: Lamp is off

Fixed bug that caused Spectrometer Simulation to not work.

Reduced the minimum allowed integration time for the Maya 2000 from 15 milliseconds down to 13 milliseconds. You can set the integration time for all spectrometers via the “acquisition parameters” panel near the top-left corner of the main SpectraSuite application window.

Bugs Fixed:

The USB-ISS-UV/VIS light souce now shows up in the “Data Sources” window when attached to the USB325 spectrometer.
Removed the external hardware trigger mode feature from the Maya and Maya Pro spectrometers (this mode was not supported by these devices).
The “Blackbody” label now displays properly when you choose “graph layer options”. To see this, right-click within a graph panel and choose “Graph Layer Options”. One of the tabs that will appear should now be labeled “Black-Body Layer”.
Corrected a problem that caused an exception when the user clicked within a graph panel, then clicked the “peaks” icon and then the “Configure” icon button.
Text fields were widened in the “Version Info” feature panel so it no longer clips the version numbers displayed for certain spectrometers. To bring up the “Version Info” panel, right-click on the spectrometer in the “Data Sources” window and choose “Spectrometer Features”. Then click on the “Version Info” tab.
Fixed a problem that prevented saving of irradiance calibration factors. To save irradiance calibration factors, right-click on the spectrometer in the “Data Sources” window and choose “Spectrometer Features”. Then click on the “Irradiance” tab. Enter the factors and click the “Save Factors” button.

Support for Microsoft Vista (32-bit only) has been added.
Enhanced the feature that saves Omni Spectrum Collections from a High Speed Acquisition. High Speed Acquisitions are initiated by right-clicking on the spectrometer in the “Data Sources” window and choosing “High Speed Acquisition”. This feature now saves a series of single files, each containing one spectrum in a user-defined directory. This does the following:

Fixes the issue with the OmniSpectrumCollection file taking a large amount of time and memory to load
Allows users to save collections as a series of text files which is much faster to load
Makes it possible to load a single spectrum file and keep running the data though as an acquisition. This results in the ability to re-process previously-acquired data, so long as a suitable reference and dark spectrum are saved and loaded.

Added the ability to change the integration time for a QE65000 in 2D mode the same way the integration time can be changed for 1D mode.

Bugs Fixed:

Strip Chart file saver no longer drops zeroes from the acquisition time’s millisecond portion.
We are now able to access more than one Jaz spectrometer on a multi-channel system.

Added a wizard for configuring the JAZ Network Spectrometer. To access the new wizard, select the “Spectrometer” menu item and then “Jaz Network Spectrometer”.

· Various bug fixes in graphing code (this fixes some weird behavior that occasionally caused the X-Axis to show up at a weird place on the Y-Axis)

· Fixed problem that sometimes the preview graph on the Combine Calibration File dialog to show up incorrectly.

· Fixed bug that caused the Y-Axis label to change when changing the X-Axis units.

· Fixed bug that caused the Y-Axis label to always show up as “Intensity (counts)” when splicing spectra of other processing modes together. (For instance, if you’re splicing two absorbance measurements together, the Y-Axis label on the spliced graph will now reflect the appropriate units).

· Fixed bugs with “Show Raw” and “Auto Equalize” buttons on the “Exposure Image” feature panel of the QE65000 and MMS-Raman spectrometers.

· Fixed bug causing the image on the “Exposure Image” feature panel on the QE65000 and the MMS-Raman spectrometers to sometimes disappear if the feature panel is resized.

New Features:

· Replaced 3^rd party charting library with a version devloped in-house. This fixed several long-standing issues.

1. Font colors and typefaces are now configurable. To change these items, right-click the graph and choose “Graph Layer Options”.

2. Eliminated the superfluous “Min must be less than max” warning message.

3. Fixed various anomolies when drawing preview graphs.

4. Fix a problem with panning and zooming which caused trend lines to occasionally fail to line up correctly with the axes.

· Added preliminary support for the current-loop output feature of the USB-AOUT and LS-450-4/20 devices. Users can now generate a 4 to 20 milliamp signal that is proportional to scope mode intensity. The output signal can be based on three different input modes (all based on scope mode values).

1. Intensity at a single wavelength.

2. An average of intensities for a range of wavelengths.

3. The value of an integration over a range of wavelengths.

To activate the current-loop output signal, go to the “Tools” menu and choose “Triggers” and then “Configure New Trigger”. Then choose “Continuous current out”. Next, give your trigger a unique name. Then choose the spectrometer that will supply the input intensity values. Click “Next” and choose the input mode (single wavelength, averaged wavelengths, or integration) and specify a wavelength value(s). Lastly, choose the spectromter to which the USB-AOUT or LS-450-4/20 device is attached. The current-loop output signal should immediately begin to track the input intensity values.

Note: the signal will appear across the following two connector pins:

· pin 6 -- ground

· pin 8 – signal

· Added “Jaz Network Spectrometer” to the Spectrometer menu. This is intended for use with the Ocean Optics Jaz spectrometer, when released, to connect to spectrometers via Ethernet. When this menu item is selected, it will create a placeholder for the spectrometer in the Data Sources area. Right-click on the icon, select “Spectrometer Features”, and go to the “Network” tab. Enter the IP address of the Jaz unit on the network (leaving the port as 7654) and press “Connect”. It is recommended that you then click “Update Status”. If the spectrometer is found, it will indicate that you are connected. At this point, you may start acquiring from that spectrometer as usual. Note that this feature is still somewhat experimental and will be improved in the near future.

Bugs Fixed:

· Fixed a bug in the chemical concentration calculations. When using the calibrated concentration mode, the resulting concentration was using the inverse of the correct extinction polynomial.

· Made the QE65000 image mode tool properly recognize the firmware version of supported spectrometers.

· Fixed an issue that may have limited SpectraSuite to a maximum of four spectrometers connected at one time, and may have prevented Windows from recognizing a spectrometer after it had been plugged/unplugged four times.

· Added a tool to splice spectra together. This is primarily intended for combining the outputs of different spectrometers for broad-band analysis (for instance, combining a UV/VIS spectrometer with an NIR spectrometer). To use this feature, select “Splice Spectra” from the Tools menu. There is an interactive editor that will allow the user to specify the wavelengths that are contributed by each spectrometer, and an overall graph at the bottom that shows the current splice result, with any gaps denoted in yellow. Note that this feature should be selected after starting the acquisitions on the spectrometers. That is, to combine two spectrometers and do a broad-band absorbance measurement, first start absorbance measurements on both spectrometers and then splice the spectra together.

· Added the capability for users to create a button in the SpectraSuite GUI that when pressed will call an external function of their choosing. Note that this feature is somewhat limited at present, but will be extended in subsequent releases. For now, it is possible to call a C function from a DLL, .so, or .jnilib file (that is, under Windows, Linux, or MacOSX), or a Java function from a .jar file (on any platform). The function will take a single integer value that the user specifies when linking to the function. This initial capability will allow a user to create an external library where events are triggered by buttons in SpectraSuite, such that the action to perform is selected by the integer parameter, e.g. pre-defined positions on a translation table. It is expected that this feature will be expanded to allow spectra to be passed as parameters when specific events occur (button presses or data triggers), and a generic set of such events will be developed. In addition to calling user functions, these events will be capable of changing the spectrometer state, e.g. GPIO settings. To see this feature in its current state, look in the menu under Tools | Custom Libraries. To make a button that calls external code, it is necessary to identify the function (Tools | Custom Libraries | Add New External Library), then map a button to it (Tools | Custom Libraries | Configure External Library).

Peaks

Allows the user to perform various peak monitoring actions.
User can display the following values on graph relating to peak:

Center wavelength
Pixel number
Centroid

User now has ability to set peak alarm when peak is reached. Actions available are:

Pause acquisition
Save Spectrum
Sound alarm (customizable).

SpectrumRange

Allows user to display captions for various Spectrum ranges. Available ranges to display are:

Near infrared range
Mid infrared range

Added additional actions to existing layers.

Image

User can now choose to lock the image position in place for a given unit range.

Multiple Concentration measurements can now be displayed in a single graph if they were created using the same absorbance processor.
Added directory persistence, now once a user has selected a directory the directory path will be saved for that session.
Added file format persistence.

Fixed issue where y-units would change when entering layer or print options.

New Features:

Added Layer support. Layer options are now available via the View | Graph Layer Options menu or by right clicking on the graph and choosing Graph Layer Options. The purpose behind the Layers feature is to allow the user more control over the customization of their graph window. Layer order can be modified by user via the menu. The available layer options are:

Annotations

Allows the user to add text to a specific location on the graph.
A user can add an annotation via the Graph Layer Options menu or by right clicking on the graph and choosing Add a New Annotation.
Annotations are associated with a specific source (selectable by the user), and once the source is removed the annotations will be removed as well.

Chart

Allows the user to modify the chart settings of the graph. The modifiable settings include:

Set chart line pattern.
Set chart line width.
Set font size.
Set number precision.
Set number spacing.
Set tick spacing.
Set grid spacing.
Set grid lines.
Set grid line color.

Cursor

Allows the user to modify the cursor color.

Baseline

Allows the user to changing baseline color.

Image

Allows the user to add a background image to graph.
Images can have any of the following operations performed on them:

Set orientation.
Set size
Flip / Rotate
Stretch
Skew

Trendline

Allows the user to change selected trendline color.

Overlay

Allows the user to add an overlay to the graph.

Visible Spectrum

Allows the user to display the colors of the visible spectrum on the graph. The following options are available for display:

Show visible spectrum as bar in X-Axis.
Show visible spectrum as full height of chart.
Clip visible spectrum to trendline.
